Extension Services Management Academy is a public sector institution, established in 1994 through the up gradation of In-service Agriculture Training Institute (IATI) (established in 1972) with the financial and technical assistance of UNDP and FAO. In the IATI phase only two Diploma classes (i) two years Field Assistant and (ii) one year Livestock Assistant were established. Under the scope of ESMA one additional two years Diploma class of Women Agriculture Extensionist was also established. At the same time Department of Continuing Education and Material Development for short regular trainings and demand driven courses for different Govt. organizations, Programs, projects and NGOs, and Out-reach & Institutional Development for community trainings and relating the classroom trainings to the real field situation, were also established.
